Thankyou to the 30 volunteers who helped clean up Canarsie Pier Beach this past Saturday morning! We removed 800 lbs of trash from the shore including a piece of a fiberglass boat, an inflatable raft, a shopping cart, and hundreds of drinking straws which helped reduce plastic pollution from entering the local marine ecosystem.
We’re grateful for Council Member Mercedes Narcisse’s and her team’s support of our stewardship and educational programs as well as for coming out to help to clean! We’d also like to thank our program partners National Park Service, Partnership for Parks and the wonderful Liberty Coke for their sponsorship and participation in cleaning up Canarsie Beach!
