Wolfe’s Pond Park Beach Cleanup

Thankyou to the 50 fantastic volunteers who helped clean up Wolfe’s Pond Park Beach this past Saturday afternoon and made City of Water Day a success! We removed 500 lbs of trash from the shore, including such large items as two tires, a pallet, a pipe, and a boat gas tank which created a safer environment for marine life and beach goers alike including preventing microplastics from entering our water system. We also discovered the jaws of a Sheepshead fish!

We’re grateful for Council Member Joe Borelli and their team’s support of our stewardship and educational programs! We’d also like to thank our program partners NPRA and Ignite Youth International. Special appreciation goes out to all the students who assisted including those from IS 7, Staten Island Tech Key Club, Wander College, Tottenville High,  John Jay, St. Francis, Stuyvesant High, and CSI.
