We had a splendid cleanup on Saturday with the NRPA: an incredible 130 volunteers helped remove 1,600 lbs of garbage from Oakwood Beach, despite some drizzly weather. We were joined by students from IS 7 and Monsignor Farrell High School, as well as volunteer groups from The Mission Continues and the College of Staten Island’s Physical Therapy program. MFHS students were superstars as usual, hauling a large piece of fiberglass from an abandoned boat off the beach.
