Volunteer Landscaping at Lemon Creek Tidal Wetland Area

Despite being 20 degrees outside, 40 volunteers weathered the cold to cut invasive Wisteria vines at Lemon Creek Tidal Wetland Area. The invasive management created room for biodiversity and native plants to grow in the spring.

The area covered also saw the need for some impromptu trash removal as the DEP suspected a household had been participating in illegal dumping for a number of years. Notable debris finds removed included: a metal patio bench, a car engine, a sizeable collection of birthday balloons, and a rusty concrete gatepost.
