On Saturday, 55 fantastic volunteers who helped clean up Plumb Beach! We removed 800 pounds of trash from the beach, wetland, and bike path; this included such finds as a rusted oil drum, a boat door, some tires, a microwave, and two bike frames. Their assistance helped increase safety access for beach-goers but also the emerging horseshoe crab season and other marine wildlife.
Extremely grateful for Council Member Mercedes Narcisse’s and her team’s support of our stewardship and educational programs as well as for coming out to help to clean! And thanks to our program partners Jamaica Bay- Rockaway Parks Conservancy, Liberty Coca Cola, and NYC Cares for their help and attendance.
