Sea level rise is expected to accelerate in the decades and centuries ahead due in part to climate change-induced melting of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. The State of New York has ‘‘officially’’ declared that mean sea level may baes much as six feet above present levels by 2100 (Fig. 4).
